Ethics charter

Guiding each person to conduct their mission in the same spirit, the ESI Ethics Charter sets out the fundamental principles and rules of conduct to be adopted by every one of us to ensure compliance with the law, fulfillment of our commitments, and maintenance of a safe, diverse, and inclusive environment. This Charter also outlines the kind of relationships we wish to maintain within the company to ensure strong internal teamwork and constructive collaboration and cooperation with our stakeholders (clients, suppliers, shareholders, partners, etc.). Furthermore, our employees receive mandatory training to ensure a better understanding of this Charter and to be aware of our commitments.

Responsible Purchase

ESI Group aims to work in an ecosystem and environment that shares its values. The purpose of the Responsible Purchasing Charter is to clarify our expectations from our suppliers (current and future) regarding human rights and working conditions, ethical business conduct and governance, and environmental responsibility. The capacity of suppliers to engage with and implement these commitments into appropriate practices is part of the evaluation criteria used by the Group throughout the relationship with eligible suppliers.

Since 2018, ESI Group has signed the United Nations Global Compact (UN Global Compact), committing to align its CSR strategy with the 10 United Nations principles on human rights, international labor standards, the environment, and anti-corruption, while annually communicating progress to stakeholders, thereby reinforcing its dedication to being a committed employer, an outstanding partner, an ethical and committed company, and an environmentally friendly player.

Governance: In light of the recent acquisition by Keysight Technologies, the governance structure has been simplified, while ensuring robust governance, vital for our long-term success.

Ethics and responsibility: In 2023, we updated our ethics charter to align with the latest standards in human rights, working conditions, and business ethics. This update reinforces our commitment to creating a better working environment for our employees and meeting the expectations of our stakeholders. The Ethics Committee (ethics [at] esi-group.com) plays a vital role in fostering adherence to our Ethics Charter among employees and ensuring its principles are consistently upheld in daily operations. The committee serves as a forum for employees to address and discuss any matters related to the implementation or compliance with the Ethics Charter. Additionally, we have placed special emphasis on integrating responsible purchasing throughout our procurement process.

At ESI, integrity is paramount in all our interactions. Being an environmentally friendly player

In 2023, ESI Group reaffirmed its commitment to environmental responsibility by meticulously addressing its carbon footprint and implementing eco-friendly initiatives. The company prioritized assessing SCOPES 1* and 2* emissions, as well as key contributors to SCOPES 3*, using the international standard Greenhouse Gas Protocol based on ISO 14064-1 principles of relevance, completeness, consistency, accuracy, and transparency. These assessments form the foundation for ESI Group's action plan to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 and reduce the carbon footprint of French consumption.

To achieve these goals, ESI Group has adopted a balanced approach, implementing measures to reduce carbon emissions while enhancing initiatives to absorb and store carbon within natural ecosystems. This comprehensive strategy addresses various environmental factors holistically, aiming not only to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions (Net Zero Plan) but also to restore and preserve ecological balance.

Key initiatives include:

Digital sustainability: ESI Group began its journey towards responsible digital practices by signing the Planet Tech’Care manifesto in November 2023. This commitment connects ESI Group with organizations and stakeholders dedicated to reducing the environmental impact of digital technology. The company promotes responsible digital practices to minimize its overall carbon footprint.

Net Zero plan: ESI is committed to limiting emissions resulting from employee’s business travel, limit CO2 emissions resulting from goods and documents, and developing the use of web conferencing tools.

Reforestation advocacy: Committed to planting 10,000 trees by 2025, ESI Group partnered with Reforest'Action, resulting in the planting of approximately 6,000 trees by customers and employees. This effort highlights ESI Group's dedication to reforestation and global environmental preservation.

* Emissions are categorized into three scopes as defined by the Greenhouse Gas Protocol:
Scope 1 Emissions: Direct GHG emissions from sources owned or controlled by an organization, such as boilers, furnaces, vehicles, and chemical production equipment.
Scope 2 Emissions: Indirect GHG emissions from the purchase of electricity, steam, heat, or cooling, generated offsite but used by the organization.
Scope 3 Emissions: Other indirect emissions in a company's value chain, including business travel, procurement, waste, water, and emissions from the production and transportation of purchased goods and services.
