Day 1: August 15, 2024

8:30am-8:45am: Doors Open, Coffee & Bagels Provided, Meet and Greet

Morning Session: Introduction to Acoustic and Structural Dynamic Simulations in Aerospace

The morning of Day 1 is dedicated to introducing ESI and VA One, and the software roadmap. Industry trends will be reviewed for acoustic and structural dynamics simulation. Finally, standard modeling processes for the main applications (launch vehicle and payload models).

9:00am-9:15am: ESI VA One - Introduction, feature overview and roadmap

9:15am-9:45am: General Trend: aerospace industry simulation solution standardization

9:45am-10:00am: Coffee Break

10:00am-11:00am: Launch vehicle standard simulation process overview

11:00am-11:30am: Payload acoustic standard simulation process overview

11:30am-12:00pm: High frequency analyses with SEA: still an open field

Afternoon Session: Easy Hands-on Introduction to VA One

This hands-on introduction will help beginners and experienced users alike to work with the latest release of the software. Both the user interface introduction and basic modeling practices will be covered.

1:00pm-1:30pm: Basics of user interface and navigation

1:30pm-2:00pm: Import sample finite element model and run a simple model frequency response problem

2:00pm-2:30pm: Advanced post-processing of a structural model: Sensor orientation and model contribution

2:30pm-2:45pm: Coffee Break

2:45pm-3:45pm: Creating a Boundary Element Model: learning to mesh FE Faces and diffuse acoustic field loading

3:45pm-4:15pm: Checking and solving the model

4:15pm-4:45pm: Results post-processing and reporting

Day 2: August 16, 2024

Day 2 is dedicated to launch vehicle modeling. Throughout the day, we will perform the different standard analyses starting with the external noise environment, lift-off simulation and ascent phase.

Session 1: Launch pad External noise prediction with the Ray Tracing Method

8:45am-9:00am: Analysis overview and assumptions

9:00am-9:15am: Model construction steps

9:15am-9:45am: Model parameters (number of rays, reflections, etc…) to improve modeling accuracy  

9:45am-10:00am: Results analysis

10:00am-10:15am: Coffee break

Session 2: Low-frequency Lift-off Finite Element Models

10:15am-10:45am: Basics of model construction (importing geometry, and adapting it to FE modeling)

10:45am-11:15am: Addressing loading concerns

11:15am-11:45am: Noise control treatment modeling

11:45am-12:15pm: Managing model size creep: best practices for managing model size and solve time

12:15pm-1:15pm Lunch Provided

Session 3: High-frequency SEA Prediction

1:15pm-1:45pm: Analysis overview and assumptions

1:45pm-2:45pm: Model construction approaches, a review of the recent developments in VA One.

2:45pm-3:15pm: Solve process and result analysis

Session 4: Launch Vehicle Modeling, Ascent Turbulent Flow Environment

3:30pm-4:00pm: Standard Turbulent Boundary Layer Loading
